Your First Pediatric Dental Visit

A Positive Experience: We will focus on introducing your child to the office and to their dentist. First and foremost, our goal is to establish our office as a positive experience for your child. Sometimes, this means moving at a slower pace and taking the time for your child to feel as comfortable as possible so that they can be cooperative and feel safe during their future visits.

Previous Dental Experience Discussion: We understand that your child may have previously visited a pediatric dentist. We kindly request that you inform us of any previous dental experiences your child has had and also let us know how cooperative your child has been in the past. This will help us to understand your child’s anxiety levels during their first visit with us, which will guide us in fostering a positive attitude during treatment.

Dental Exam And Cleaning: During your first visit, we will examine your child’s mouth and check their teeth, gums and tongue. We may also need to take X-rays. Then, we will clean your child’s teeth. We will check for any plaque buildup that may need to be removed and administer a fluoride treatment to keep your child’s teeth healthy. In addition to the cleaning, we will explain ways to help keep your child’s oral health in tip-top shape at home in kid-friendly terms.
